Float flying this Saturday August 23, 2008
Bill Autry plans to do some float flying this Saturday at Baugher's pond.
Bring a float plane, bring a boat, or just show up to watch. It's always a good time!
If you have a small rowable craft that can be used for retrieval please bring it along. I'm sure it will be appreciated! |
Training:
Beyond "Bank and Yank"
For those in the rut of rolling and applying elevator (aka;bank and yank) learn a few "turn around" maneuvers. Basic "Procedure Turns" and other simple moves (Shark's Tooth, Immelman, Half Cuban 8 and Half Reverse Cuban 8) will be covered. Date TBD so let me kow your interest.
Basic Aerobatics: Loop, Roll and Spin.
These are the basics of all aerobatic maneuvers. Learn them and expand your flight envelope (and fun). Date(s) TBD so let me know your interest. We will do a basic "Aresti" chart reading session with this. Also covered will be lines: Level, 90 degree up and down lines and 45 degree lines. Tips for expanding into all these inverted.
Practice: How and what to practice to become a proficient pilot.
An easy practice maneuver is a simple figure 8 (level with the ground ~ not a "Cuban 8") with intersections toward the pilot and centered then reversed with the intersections away from the pilot will greatly improve visualization of the plane. Once this is accomplished take it another mistake high and do it all over again inverted. This allows viewing the plane in all possible attitudes.
We did quite a few of these type sessions last year at the Spiegel field. It is a little better since you don't have the hill as an issue on the left like at Baugher's. Again let me know your needs and the Instructor Staff will do our best to oblige.
